In Bengali language people called Egg plants (brinjal) "Be-Gun" i.e one which has no quality. But it is not so underestimated vegetable. Because its has various preparations and great food value. Among them mustard brinjal (Egg plants) is one of the tastiest recipes. Its so easy to prepare that even a newcomer in this field can also make it.
Ingredients:

  • Brinjal (Egg Plants): 2pcs (Cut into cube shaped)
  • Mustard/ White oil: 50gm
  • Small smashed tomato: 1pc
  • Mustard seeds: a small pinch
  • Mustard paste: 2tps
  • Green Chilly: 4/5pcs
  • Turmeric powder: 1tps
  • Salt & Sugar: As required
  • Coriander leaves: 1bunch     
Preparation:
Clean the brinjals (Egg plants) properly and add turmeric powder and salt.
Heat the pan with oil.
Put mustard seeds into the oil.
Now add brinjals (Egg plants) into the heated oil and make them fry lightly.  
Keep fried brinjals aside in another bowl.
Then put the mustatd paste into the oil.
Add tomato, salt & sugar (as required).
Now pour 2cups of water into it and let them boil for 3-4 minutes.
Finally add coriander leaves & green chilly for garnishing.
Cover it for 2minutes.
Now open it & take a sniff of the ready dish.

Dohi Rohi is one of my non-veg favourite dishes. It is not so spicy rather tasty, easily digestable and quick time taken recipe. People who like light non-veg menu may try it and I think it'll be palatable with rice mainly and then with roti also.
    Ingredients:

  • Rohu fish: 4-5pcs (approx 400gm)
  • Curd: 50gm
  • Onion paste: 50gm
  • Garlic flakes: 5-6pcs
  • Ginger paste: 25gm
  • Turmeric powder: 3tbs
  • Salt & Sugar: As required
  • Mixture of cinnamon, clove & cardamom powder: Small pinch
  • Coriander leaves & Green Chilly: Small amount

  Preparation:
Take fish and clean it properly.
Marinate raw fish with salt and turmeric powder.
Heat oil in the pan & fry the fish lightly.
Keep them aside in another bowl.
Now pour the paste of onion, garlic and ginger into the hot oil.
Add turmeric powder, salt and sugar  according to taste.
Stir it for at least 5minutes.
Then put the fried fish into the gravy and pour a little water.
After 3-4minutes, add the blended curd to the gravy.
Boil the total preparation for 5minutes.
Now add coriander leaves, green chilly and a small pinch of cinnamon, clove & cardamom powder.
Cover it for 3-4minutes.
now the Dohi Rohi(Curd Rohu Fish)  is ready to be served.
